We’re going to teach you how to safely use a mandolin to slice potatoes.
Be careful the blade is very sharp! The key is to not put too much pressure on the potato when you’re sliding down the mandolin.
Always use the guard as this protects your hand. Stab the spikes of the guard into the potato until it is secured tightly.
The skin of the potato has lots of nutrients so you may choose to leave it on after giving it a good wash.
Place it against the top of the mandolin, and then firmly slide it down. Repeat.
Once you get down to the guard, make sure the spikes line up with the grooves in the mandolin so that you don’t wear them down.
